Obituary of Anthony Parla

Anthony Parla, 62, of Doylestown, Pa., formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.
He was born in Jamestown, on May 6, 1948, the son of Carrie Perfetto Parla, Jamestown, and the late Calogero Parla.
Anthony was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, and had worked as an electrical engineer, most recently at Micro Memory, Montgomeryville, Pa. He had also worked for IBM in Essex, Vt., for 14 years and in San Diego for six years.
He loved woodworking, listening to music, golfing with his son, brothers and friends, and cheering for the Phillies.
He served with the U.S. Army in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Graves Parla, whom he married Nov. 23, 1974, in Russell, Pa.; a son, Adam (Alison) Parla; a daughter, Audrey (Neil) Young; a grandson, Logan Young; a brother, Peter (Pamela) Parla; and a sister, Louise (Bill) MacIntyre, Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carmella Search.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Unitarian Church of Jamestown.
Family will be received one hour prior to the funeral service.
A private family burial will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family ask to please consider donating blood: it truly is the gift of life. Also memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; or the National Marrow Donation Program; or the American Red Cross.
