Lillian "Scoop" Devore, 83, a resident of the Watson Memorial Home in Warren, died there Tuesday April 13, 2010.
She was born June 19, 1921 in Freehold Twp., a daughter of the late Daniel M. and Irena (Pilling) Groves. She had worked at the State Hospital, the Rouse Home and in later years worked in Home Health Care. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children James A. Devore, Youngsville; Cheryl Devore VanHouten, Sugar Grove, David M. Devore, Youngsville, Brian K. Devore and his wife Deborah of Youngsville; a brother Raymond H. Groves of Sugar Grove; Grandchildren Joel C. VanHouten and his wife Devan of Sugar Grove; Heidi R. VanHouten of Warren; Step grandchildren Mindy S. Kane of Youngsville; Richie J. Kane of Highland Heights, KY. and a first great grandchild that is due in October.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband Arthur William Devore, whom she married November 30, 1946 at the E.U.M. Church in Youngsville, and who died May 20, 1980; 4 brothers William, James, Robert and Daniel Groves and a sister Betty J. Sliter.
Friends may call on Thursday at the Hubert-Lewis Funeral Home Inc. 314 N. Main St. Youngsville, from 2-4 and 6-8. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 11:00am at the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville with the Rev. Mark Fischer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Lottsville Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Watson Home in Warren, The Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville or to the Warren Co. Hospice.
The funeral service for Lillian Groves Devore, 83, of the Watson Memorial Home, who died on April 13, 2010, was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in theSaron Lutheran Church, Youngsville. The Rev. Mark Fisher, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Lottsville Cemetery. Bearers were James, David, Brian and George Devore, Joel VanHouten and Raymond Groves. The Hubert-Lewis Funeral Home Inc., Youngsville was in charge of arrangements.
