Obituary of Carmen Campana

Carmen "Spike" Campana, 92, a long time resident of Jamestown, died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday (January 19, 2011) in Memory Gardens.
He was born in Warren, Ohio on December 22, 1918, the son of Herman and Alice Flasck Campana.
Carmen was a graduate of Warren High School and served with the U.S. Navy Seebees during WWII where he trained as a Frog Man in Ft. Pierce, FL. and served in Okinawa.
He graduated from Renard School of Mortuary Science in New York City and was associated with his brother-in-law Thomas J. Costanzo at the former Costanzo Funeral Home, Inc., where he worked for thirty-five years. He was a seventy year member of the Knights of Columbus Council #926 and a member of the Fourth Degree, former Grand Knight and Faithfull Navigator and held the position of District Deputy of Western New York.
He was a Board Member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Treasurer for the Boys & Girls Club and a former member of St. James PTA, a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
Carmen is survived by a daughter Lisa Berger, Louisville, KY. and a son Herman Campana, Jamestown, two granddaughters Felicia & Christina Berger, Louisville, KY., a grandson Michael C. Campana, Jamestown, two great granddaughters, four nieces Mary Margaret (Robert) Arnone, Harborcreek, PA., Barbara (Donald) Morris, Fullerton, CA., Janet (Donald) Schneider, Warren, OH. and Diane Campana, Palm Springs, CA., three nephews Frank (Charlene) Costanzo, Sedona, AZ., Michael (Janet) Andalora, Seneca, S.C. and Dr. Thomas Campana, Cleveland, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carmella Costanzo Campana whom he married on November 23, 1950 in St. James Catholic Church and who died on May 12, 1994, a brother Herman Campana and two sisters Irene Costanzo Piazza and Matilda Andalora.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, Pastor of St. James Catholic Church, will officiate.
Entombment will be in the family mausoleum at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received today from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:00 pm.
