Obituary of H. Eugene Pilling

H. Eugene Pilling, 76, of Carpenter Pringle Road, Ashville, NY died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday (August 1, 2012) in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born in Warren, Pa. on August 5, 1935 the son of the late Henry and Violet Strickland Pilling. Gene was employed at Precision Tool as a machinist for over twenty years. After his retirement, he worked part time for Falconer Electronics. Previously he was employed at Ring Punch & Die and Jamestown Perforators. He served with the US Army as a SP4 in communications from 1958 to 1960 and served in Germany. He was affiliated with Jehovah's Witness West Congregation and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Gene loved wood working and specialized in making furniture. He was known as a "jack of all trades" and was a very giving person of his time and talents. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Persson Pilling, whom he married on December 16, 1961 in the Wrightsville Community Church. He is also survived by a son, Robert E. Pilling, Cloverdale, Ca. and siblings, Richard (Linda) Pilling, Dennis (Barbara) Pilling and Judy Lewis, all of Youngsville, Pa. and David (Cindy) Pilling, Lander, Pa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Pilling. A Memorial Service will be held at noon Friday, August 3, 2012 in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Elder Kurt Hallberg of the Jehovah's Witnesses West Congregation will officiate. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the funeral service.
