Obituary of Arnita Mong Phillips

Arnita Mong Phillips, 95, of Emeritus at Lakewood, died at 4:35 p.m. Monday (February 27, 2012) in Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born in Ninevah, Pa. on December 22, 1916, the daughter of John and Amanda Nellis Mong.
Arnita was a 1934 graduate of Ashland High School, Kossuth, Pa. and had been employed at GTE Sylvania in Warren in the machine and wire department and at Texas Lunch. She was also employed by Will Care in Jamestown, having held the honor of Employee of the Year.
She was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, sang in the choir, was a member of the Dorcas Society and was a Sunday School teacher.
Arnita is survived by two grandchildren, John R. (Kelly) Nocero, Cleveland, Oh. And Kathryn “KC” (Eric) MacMillan, Philadelphia, Pa.; a great grandson, Ryan J. Nocero, Cleveland, Oh. and a sister, Martha Miller, Mansfield, Oh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Briggs, who died in 1960 and her husband, Archie Phillips, who died in 1971, a daughter, Rosanna “Pepper” Nocero, who died in 2009, a son-in-law, Eugene Nocero, and by seven brothers, Cecil, Harold, Everett, Robert, Dale, Philip and Donald Mong, and by four sisters, Frances Foster, Eva Svenson, Opal Mong and Pauline Harrington.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 in Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Ladue, Pastor, will officiate.
Internment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
Memorials may be made to Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, 385 S. Main St., Jamestown or to the Chautauqua Blind Association, 510 W. Fifth St., Jamestown.
