Obituary of David D. Emerling

David D. Emerling, 77, of 148 Whitehill Ave., Jamestown, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 6, 2013) at his residence.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on September 8, 1935 the son of Gilbert B. and Jane G. Gentner Emerling.
Dave was employed in the grocery business for 45 years, thirteen of those years as the owner/operator of the Bells Supermarkets.
He was a veteran of the US Army and served from 1958 to 1960. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and served as an Eucharistic Minister and served as an acolyte for funeral masses. Dave belonged to the Celtics Catholic Men’s Club, the Rod & Gun Club and was a volunteer for R.S.V.P.
Dave was an avid hunter and wood carver. He enjoyed golf and played in the senior league at South Hills Country Club. He and Marge wintered in Florida each year. .
He is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Margaret "Marge" Williams Emerling whom he married on September 15, 1956 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., a son, David G. (Sylvia) Emerling, Jamestown, a daughter, Sharon M. Emerling, Germany, three grandchildren, Andreau "Drew" Emerling, Alexandrea "Alex" Emerling, Jamestown and Adam "AJ" (Danielle) Emerling, Newark, Delaware, four brothers, George G. (Jackie) Emerling, Hamburg, N.Y., Richard R. "Rich" (Judee) and James J. "Jim" (Maureen) Emerling, Orchard Park, N.Y. and John J. (Bob) Emerling, Buffalo, N.Y..
He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret "Mimi" Herron, who died on February 10, 2010.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2012 in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Internment will be in Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum.
Friends will be received on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m..
