Obituary of Jack L. Ingalls

Jack Ingalls, 83, of Clymer, New York, passed away at home Tuesday, November 11, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Port Elgin, New Brunswick, Canada on July 20th, 1931, the sole son (of twelve children) born to the late Harry and Florence Estella Ingalls. Jack was an awarded veteran of the Korean War, serving in both the United States Army and Navy. During his service, Jack received the National Service Medal and the Medal of Good Conduct. A Summa Cum Laude from SUNY in Cobleskill, New York, Jack was employed by the New York State Dept. of Agriculture and Markets Food Division, retiring in 1988, to enjoy his numerous interests in gardening, checkers, travel, bird watching, family, church, and his dog, Andy. In more recent years, Jack enjoyed sharing his love and wisdom with his family and friends. Jack was a member of the Lowville Seventh-day Adventist Church. Jack is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kay Goodell Ingalls. He is also survived by two sons, Duane Ingalls (wife Kim Hoitink) of Clymer, New York, grandchildren: Seth, Zachariah, Jacqueline, Jenelle, and one great grandchild: Kaydynn Ingalls (Seth’s son); Kevin Ingalls (wife Laura Aylsworth) of Syracuse, New York, grandchildren: Katie Jo, Kory, Lillian, and Lukas. Jack also loved a foster son, John Barger (wife JoAnn) of Paris, Tennessee. Of Jack’s eleven sisters, two sisters survive in Port Elgin, New Brunswick: Muriel Dunphy and Dona Chapman. Jack was predeceased by his parents and nine sisters: Grace Hamula, Jean Fischer, Hilda Whitehead, Helen Thunber, Gelda Bell, Gladys Goddard, Dorothy (Dot) Martin, Fay Hughes, Roberta (Bobbie) Davison. A lunch buffet and celebration of Jack’s life will take place on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at 1 p.m. at one of Jack’s favorite eateries, the Dutch Village, 8729 East Main Street, Clymer, New York. Interment will be at a later date in Kirkville, New York.
