Obituary of Barbara White Peterson

Barbara White Turner, 79, of 11275 Market St., Russell, Pa. died at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday (October 29, 2014) at her residence.
She was born on April 26, 1935 in Jamestown, the daughter of Louis and Margaret Bryant White.
Barbara was employed at Cummins Engine on the assembly line for fifteen years, retiring in 1997. After retirement, she was employed as the head usher at the Amphitheater at Chautauqua for several years.
In her early years, she was employed at the National Forge, Penelec and Crescent Tool.
Barbara was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the usher board, the Chrisma Club (fund raising for the United Negro College Fund) and Links International. She was also a member of two social clubs, The Ella’y El and the Entre Nous.
She is survived by her daughter, Cara I. Turner, Russell, Pa., a son, Dwight “Mark” Turner, Jamestown, two grandchildren, Abbey Schnitt, Baltimore, Maryland and Jovante Turner, Jamestown, two sisters, Catherine White and Dorothy Clark, Ellenwood, Ga.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Chuck, Herbert, George and Louis White, by three sisters, Louise Francis, Millie Givens, and Ollie Turner.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. LeRoy Walker, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services and for one hour prior to the service in the church.
