Obituary of Serene Caprino Brown

Serene Caprino Brown, 77, of 63 Frederick Blvd. West Ellicott, formerly of 1049 Kiantone Rd., died at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (April 30, 2014) at her residence. She was born on November 21, 1936 in Tortorici, Sicily on November 21, 1936 the daughter of Ignazio and Sebastiana Montagna Caprino. Serene was employed at Valeo as an assembler for twenty seven years, retiring in 2001. She was previously employed at National Worsted Mills. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and helped bake for the annual St. Joseph Table and the summer festival. Serene loved her grandchildren and she enjoy crocheting, cooking and gardening and going to her home in Florida for the winter. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Brown whom she married on August 6, 1960 in St. James Catholic Church, a son, Robert J. Brown, Chicago, Il., two daughters, Anna (David) Lamantia, West Ellicott and Deborah (Ben) Session, Ormond Beach, Fl., two grandchildren, David Lamantia Jr. and Nina S. Lamantia, Brockport, N.Y., two brothers, Ignatius “Knots” (Sarah) Caprino, Ocala, Fl. and Carl (Mary) Caprino, Ross Mills, Falconer, two sisters, Josephine (Harry) Hind, Frewsburg and Teresa Elmeer, Tampa, Fl. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Ciancio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Sunday, May 4th from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County 20 West Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, N.Y. 14750.
