Obituary of Josephine E. Butera Carlo

Josephine E. Butera Carlo, 86, of 426 Hunt Rd. WE Jamestown., died at 10:56 a.m. Sunday (February 23, 2014) in the WCA Hospital. She was born in Jamestown on January 22, 1928 the daughter of Gerlando and Teresa Marullo Butera. Jay had been employed as a teller at the former Bankers Trust for nine years and also at Carlo’s Market on Foote Ave. Ext. from 1949 to 1965. She was a life long communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Marco Polo Club Auxiliary and the Catholic War Vets Auxiliary and was an avid bowler and golfer. Jay loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of sixty four years, Louis S. Carlo, whom she married on November 12, 1949 in St. James Catholic Church, two sons, George L. (Laurie) Carlo, Sarasota, Fl and Gerald T. (Mary Ellen) Carlo, Williamsville, NY, four grandchildren, Michael R. Fosburg, Sarasota, Fl, Andrew D. Carlo, Boston, Ma, Jennifer A. Carlo, Buffalo, N.Y., three other grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two brothers, Carl D. Butera, Jamestown and Vincent E. (Reva) Butera, Naples, Fl. and a sister, Eva E. (Leo) Perino, Jamestown, brother and sister in law, Peter L. (Mary Ann) Carlo, Jamestown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles J. Butera and by two sisters, Joanne G. Macaluso and Adeline Matheis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
