Ann Campesi Spitale, 91, of Jamestown passed away at 9:12 p.m. Monday (September 14, 2015) in the Lutheran Home.
She was born in Jamestown on March 20, 1924 the daughter of Peter and Anna Merchant Campesi.
Ann was formerly employed at Period Brass, Grants Department Store, Chautauqua Hardware and Lynns Clothing. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a former member of the VFW Post #53 Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary and was a member of the Waterettes Club.
Ann was truly an inspiration and overcame her illnesses and physical limitations and spread love to all who knew her. She was an selfless woman.
Ann is survived by her husband, Basil “Bay” Spitale, whom she married in St. James Catholic Church and with whom she celebrated their seventy third wedding anniversary on September 7, 1942, three sons, George (Mary) Spitale, Jamestown, Carl (Dolores) Spitale, Royal Palm Beach, Fl and Peter Spitale, Palm Beach Gardens, Fl., six grandchildren, Kristen Wilson and
Scott Spitale, Jamestown, Alyssa Spitale, Phoenix, AZ., Carl and Michael Spitale,Lakewood, CA., and Sarah Darville, Royal Palm Beach,Fl., three great grandchildren, Matthew Wilson, Jamestown, Olivia and Tyler Darville, Royal Palm Beach, Fl, a brother, Sebastian (Eloise) Campesi, San Antonio, TX and a sister, Josephine Grenier, Jamestown. Several nieces and nephews and god children also survive.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Spitale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
