Michael “Ang” Munella, 80, of Jamestown, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday (July 13, 2015) at his residence. He was born in Jamestown on September 26, 1934 the son of Ben and Margaret Zampelli Munella.
Ang was the Deputy Director of Development for the city of Jamestown and was employed with the city from 1972 to 1994. He previously worked for Retail Credit, checking people’s background for credit. He was one of the founding members of the Italian Amercian Golf Tournament and a past commander of the Henry Mosher Post #638. He served in the US Army.
Ang was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, a member of the Boys Club alumni and a member of the board for JURA.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Angelotti Munella whom he married on March 2, 1957 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Warren, Pa., a son, Michael (Carrie) Munella Jr., Pendleton, N.Y. and a daughter, Jody (Charles) Caldwell, Jamestown, three grandchildren, Alexandra (Michael) Peterson and Mackenzie Caldwell, Jamestown and Sarah Munella, Pendleton, N.Y., two brothers, Jack (Betty) and Robert (Ellen) Munella, Jamestown, a sister, Sandra Olson, Albany, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael T. Munella, who died January 2, 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. John L. Kuhlmann, will be the celebrant.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
