Gertrude (Gert) Greco Melice, 90 of Jamestown passed away October 14, 2023 of natural causes. She was born October 2, 1933 to Caroline Schifano Greco in Buffalo, NY. Gert attended Jamestown Public Schools. She married the love of her life, Anthony Melice Sr. on January 8, 1950 and celebrated over 50 years of marriage.
Gertrude was the owner of Goodway Liquor and co-owner of Sister’s 2 Plaza Apparel with her sister, Mickey. She was active member of St. James RCC with the Altar Rosary and the Italian Festival.
Family was her pride and joy and always her first priority. Gert loved playing cards and dominos with her girlfriends.
Gertrude is Survived by her 5 Children, Annette Melice Patric (Todd), Sam Melice, Tony Melice Jr. (Tammy), Carrie Jo Melice Collins (Ronnie) and Mark Melice (Melaine), her 14 grandchildren, Shannon Patric, Christopher Patric (Christina), Natalie Patric Carroll (Dan), Sam Melice, Michael Melice, Brock Melice, Andy Melice (Cathy), Anthony Melice III (Sara), Anthony English, James English, Sara English Curtis (Austin), Matthew Melice, Michael Melice (Allison) and Megan Melice (Colin), her 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and her sister, Mickey Pappalardo.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony Melice Sr. on April 15, 2001, her mother, Caroline Schifano Greco on October 20, 1993, her brother, Sam C. Greco on January 16, 2022 and her infant brother, Frankie Greco.
Arrangements entrusted to Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.
Per Gert’s wishes visitation will not be observed.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday October 20, 2023 10AM at St. James RCC.
Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
