Obituary of Sarah L Carlson
Please share a memory of Sarah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sarah L Carlson, 81 of Jamestown NY passed away August 9, 2021 in her home. She was born February 16, 1940 in Carlisle NY, the daughter of Orval Elliott and Alice Conklin Elliott.
Sarah was baptized in 1957 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and was a member of the West Jamestown Congregation, 181 Martin Road, Jamestown NY.
Upon graduating Pine Valley High School class of 1958, she worked as a secretary for Blackstone Corporation in Jamestown, and married her husband Leslie J Carlson on June 23, 1962.
In addition to being a homemaker, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed working at Sears in Lakewood with her two daughters Pamela and Jennifer, (and future son-in-law Mark). Upon retirement, she transitioned to the YWCA Advantage Afterschool Program at Bush Elementary, again joined by daughter Jennifer.
She was a loving sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She will be remembered as faithful, loyal, selfless, generous, and hospitable, always ready to smile and be a friend.
Her hope was in the Bible’s promise that Jehovah God and his Kingdom will soon make the earth a paradise, and then all those asleep in death, safe in God’s memory, will be brought back to life by his Son, Jesus Christ. (Matt 6:9,10; John 5:28,29; Rev 21:3,4)
Sarah is survived by her children, Joseph (Rose) Carlson, Pamela Carlson (Norman) Yonkers, and Jennifer Carlson (Mark) Baglia, her grandchildren, Arran Carlson and Andrew Carlson, and her sister Charlotte Sherman and brothers Richard Elliott, Orlo Elliott, Milo Elliott, and Tim Elliott.
In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her brothers Orval Elliott Jr, William Elliott, Robert Elliott, Thomas Elliott, and sister Susan Elliott.
