Obituary of Calogero Russo

Calogero “Charlie” Russo, 82 of Jamestown passed away January 3, 2021 in Richmond VA. He was born March 2, 1938 in Busaquino, Italy, the son of Bernardo Russo Sr and Anna Salerno Russo.
Charlie owned the Hotel Franklin Bar and the Hotel California both in Jamestown. He later owned a maintenance company that operated in both Jamestown and Virginia. After retiring in Jamestown Charlie opened up a vegetable stand, Charlie’s Garden in Jamestown.
Charlie served his community as a member of the Marco Polo Club, The Moose, and the Lakewood Rod and Gun. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church.
Charlie loved to garden and make his homemade wine that everyone loved. He was a great cook. Charlie loved his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Calogero is survived by his sons, Bernardo “Dino” (Maryann) Russo Jr of VA, Salvatore “Sam” Russo of Jamestown, and Marco Russo of VA, his grandchildren, Bianca (Giuseppe) Mandala, Carlo Russo, and London Hancock, his great grandchild, Giuseppe Mandala, and his sister-in-law, Giovanna Coletti. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calogero is preceded in death by his parents, his Wife Concetta Coletti Russo, and his sisters, Gnazia Russo and Josephine Russo.
Calling hours will be Friday January 8, 2021 from 4-7pm at Hubert Funeral Home.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday January 9, 2021 10am at St. James RCC.
Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
