Obituary of Howard C States

Howard C. States passed away UPMC Chautauqua with his family by his side on November 23, 2020 at 4:55 pm after a long battle with COPD. Howard was born in Jamestown, NY on May 23, 1932, he was 88 years old. He was the son of Randall States and Bernice Goldfinch. He attended Celeron High School. He married Carmella A. Pintagro on August 3, 1956 in Jamestown, NY. He later married Josephine Yanik on June 30, 1990. He worked at Dahlstroms Factory and then retired from Jamestown Board of Education as head maintenance man. Howard was member of the Masons. He loved traveling, tooling leather (he made purses, wallets, belts) building furniture and going for rides with his wife. He also loved his family getting together for cookouts and holidays. He was very much a family man. Howard is preceded in death by his first wife, Carmella Pintagro States, his mother, father, brothers (Randall States, Richard Ambrose, Robert States, Donald States, and Kenneth States) two sisters, Bernice States and Shirley Livermore, a grandson, Randy Myers and two Daughters in law, Kathy Yanik & Amey Yanik. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Yanik States, his sister Helen Patti, his children, Catherine Hill (Mark Sharpeletti), Karen States (Jonathan Pitts), Scott States (Cheryl States), Mark States (Samantha States), Rosanne Myers (Gerald Myers), Joe Yanik, Carl Yanik, Jr, Debbie Pasanise (John Pasanise) 23 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and longtime friends. Calling hours will be Sunday November 29, 2020 from 2pm-4pm at Hubert Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday November 30, 2020 2pm at Holy Cross Cemetery.
