Obituary of Arthur J Mathews

Art Mathews, 60 of Spring St, Jamestown NY died peacefully at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA on February 14, 2020. He was born October 31, 1959, in Jamestown NY the son of the late John and Betty Mathews. Art attended Frewsburg Central School. For much of his life Art served Jamestown as a bartender and cook at the Grog Shop, the Eats Café, and later on would help start up and manage Shawbucks. Art enjoyed watching the Vikings play on Sundays. He loved spending time with family on Christmas and attending his brother Jeff’s yearly barbeque on Memorial Day weekend. Art enjoyed going out to Gurnsey Hollow and camping with friends and family. Art is survived by his beloved dog, Mocha, three brothers, John Clark of Jamestown, NY, Jeff Mathews and his wife Sue of Frewsburg, NY, and Steve Mathews of Jamestown, NY, his two sisters, April Bryant of Modesto, CA, and Susan Miller of Jamestown, NY, and his best friend Louise “Weezie” James, whom he shared Mocha with. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Alanna, Holly, Sarah, Jason, Kristy, Jamie, Chris, Tina, Melvin, Josh Anna, and Nicky. Arrangements entrusted to Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
