Obituary of Kenneth Whitney
Kenneth Lee Whitney 40, died unexpectedly on Nov. 22, 2019, following his long time struggle with addiction. Kenny was born March 28, 1979, in Olean N.Y., the son of Brenda Whitney (Stingel)and the late Victor H. Whitney. Kenny was a lovable child, who excelled in school and wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up. During the years, he became a troubled youth with a mixture of mental health issues and substance abuse. Although he tried to get his life together throughout the years, his suffering always over powered his confidence and success. He struggled with alcoholism for many years. Fell in love and married. They lost a child then stumbled down the opioid road. He had another child, and a second
chance at life, but couldn’t overcome his addiction. He lost his wife, Jan. 26, 2019. This intensified his suffering causing an increase in his substance abuse. Unfortunately, this was the vicious cycle he lived....his entire life. In his final days, He struggled with his demons. He wanted so badly to get his life together for his son, but the addiction and suffering were too strong. He is survived by his son Savage âLeeã Whitney; his mother, Brenda Whitney; his sisters: Marlissa Whitney, Seanna Howie, Cynthia Howie, Michelle Robinson and Vicki Kerr; and a brother, Tim Whitney. He also had many nieces and nephews. Kenny is preceded in death by his wife, Destiny Riley Whitney; a son, Ruger Whitney; and his father, VictorWhitney. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday from 1-3 p.m., at The Swamp at 250 Jones and Gifford. Family and friends are invited to attend.
